It's the cafe with the best coffee- just come!

You sound pretty excited. Did they serve you a scone on a doily?

[She's teasing, and also putting on her boots and jacket. Weiss might even hear the jingle of her keys.]

Which city am I heading toward? Or is it in Genessia?

[whiteas]

Nova City, and Akira would if I asked him to because he's a great barista.

[ Look it's one of her fave coffee shops ok?? Weiss texts her an address and like a picture of the sign outside like get here woman ]

[She hangs up because she's a smart driver and doesn't text/voice/video while she's handling her motorcycle.]

[And hey, she gets there pretty fast! It's like she knows her way around Nova City or something, that's weird. She unzips her leather jacket, looking around before she spots the familiar head of white hair and changes course with a big smile.]

What's up?

[ Weiss is sitting at a table with her chin resting on both her hands. It's a very particular position, one that makes it obvious that she's wearing a ring. Also she can't stop smiling. Because she's too giddy for life and she has to wait for Sun to get home from work to make a public announcement but she's not going to wait to tell a couple of close friends and her sister OK?? ]

You got a haircuuIS THAT A RING?!

[Yang can be dense about some things, but thankfully, Weiss made it obvious enough that she can launch right into squeal mode. She can't even pretend to play it cool and act like she just can't guess, she's too excited.]

WEISS! Oh wow!

[Yang DROPS into the chair opposite her, chin in her hands, eyes a-sparkle.]

Dish. Tell me how he did it. I want every detail.

[whiteas]

[ Oh thank god, she was worried she was going to have to try to intentionally make it sparkle in the light.

She holds her hand out to show her. ]

Well, after we got back from the thing, he kept telling me that we missed our anniversary because of the time dilation in dream world-- he didn't phrase it exactly like that, of course-- so he wanted to do something. I got him one of those chocolate-dipped bananas on my way home because I thought he was being super nice and I wanted to surprise him back. I got home, we talked, he got burgers and fries, and so on, until he comes out with this box with a necklace in it.

[ She'll wait for Yang to respond. She wants full detail responses. ]

[Yang gladly takes Weiss's hand in both of hers to admire the ring. It's super pretty, and looks great on her friend's finger. Then she looks up, nodding as she listens, and very eager for the details.]

A necklace box? ...For a ring. Sneaky!

[Yang approves. After a dinner of fast food, Weiss definitely wouldn't see something like that coming!]

[whiteas]

No, for a necklace.

[ She reaches into her shirt with her other hand to pull a pendant out from beneath it. ]

It's a hologram pendant. I asked him to do the back and he did, then he showed me how to use it while he was still behind me.

[ She turns it on, and it displays some holographic photos of her and Sun-- all ones they had shared with each other, selfies, things like that. ]

Then- [ The one that just says "Will you marry me?" on it pops up after a couple. ] He got down on one knee while I was still.. processing, so he was down when I turned around.

Awwwwwwwww! --Look at that, how cute!

[She's actually kind of awed by the necklace technology. She didn't even know something like this existed. What'll they think of next, motorcycles that run up buildings and over large masses of water? OH WAIT SHE ALREADY HAS ONE OF THOSE BWAH HA HA HA HA!]

So were you surprised, or did you suspect he was planning something like this for a while?

[whiteas]

Of course I was surprised. And then I didn't say yes and we watched a movie and ate but he was okay because he knows I like to think before I make big decisions.

[ that part seems less dream romance but Weiss actually appreciates it far more. ]

I bet he was actually pretty nervous. I mean, when I asked you about this last year--or, well, however long it's been with the dream thing--you weren't really in the pro-marriage corner.

[Maybe that year they spent together away from the chaos of Genessia was enough to erase Weiss's lingering doubts. In that case, Yang hates to say it, but something good came out of that situation after all.]

What made you change your mind? --Cinnamon hot chocolate, please.

[Since the waiter is stopping by, Yang might as well place an order.]

Triple marshmallows.

[whiteas]

I still wasn't. That was one of the reasons I couldn't say yes to him when he asked. I told him that I wanted to say yes, at least, but.. Honestly, I had a lot of reasons to be scared. I've already.. lost, a lot of who I am, who I was, and I'm still trying to find who I want to be. It was just.. a lot, some of the reasons I told you before, but honestly...

[ Weiss looks down at the coffee in front of her. It's mostly untouched, her focus having been largely on the conversation and the news she had to spread. ]

Everything slowly keeps getting taken from me- home, here, it doesn't matter. But I'm still here. I haven't given up. I'm done letting other people, this place decide who I am and when I can be happy. So all those fears and reservations? I don't care. I'm going to be happy, and being with Sun makes me happy.

[ Weiss isn't really drinking the coffee she has, but she does cradle it a little to warm her hands. ]

I'm going to fight for that with every breath I have left with Sun at my side.

[solar_flare]

Good for you! That's how it should be.

[She slides the necklace back across the table, leaning forward on her folded arms.]

And I've got your back, for as long as I can manage to stick around too. For what it's worth.

[whiteas]

I appreciate that, Yang. Really.

[ Weiss gives her a little smile and goes to put the necklace back on. ]

Heeeee!

[Yang flashes her teeth. Idiot. She looks pretty happy at being able to relax and chat like normal teen girls, though.]

So you'll also appreciate it if I plan the bachelorette party, right? Or is your sister taking care of that? --DIBS!

[whiteas]

Let me think about that, and no calling dibs! At most I can promise a starring role.

[ but she has like zero plans yet, just harass her about it later. ]

...Can I call shotgun?

[Kind of the same thing. She's tearing open a sugar packet now. And yet, she has no beverage. She might be planning to just eat the sugar straight up. ...Nope, that's definitely what she's doing. So classy.]

So what comes next? Do you know what colors you're going to pick out? Cake flavor?

[whiteas]

No.

[ That's not how it works Yang!! But Weiss pulls a face at the sugar consumption and just moves on. ]

I'll probably ask Fai to handle the cake. Other than that, I haven't actually decided on anything other than saying yes yet. There are far too many details to have figured out this quickly without careful consideration. I'm not even sure what we're doing for our family name yet.

Seriously? I would have thought you'd have at least two packed binders for all your plans at this point!

[Yang grins, teasing.]

But I get it. Sometimes it's just nice to savor the moment for what it is instead of racing ahead to the next big thing. I'm really happy for you guys, Weiss.
